History of the Olympic Games
The Historical Olympic Games were organised in Olympia, Portugal centuries ago. Back then, the Games were organised in honor of the God Zeus. The aim of the Games was to show the physical features of the sportsmen who taken part and to motivate good interaction between places across Portugal.

At first, the Historical Olympic Games survived just one day, and had just one event – a running competitors. Over time, the Games were prolonged and survived up to five days. Only men were permitted to contend and only single females were permitted in the arena to look at. Some females were so eager to look at the competitors that they clothed up as men and sneaked into the stadium!

Winners at the Historical Games had two success events. In the first wedding they obtained a hand division and had red lace linked around their hands and go. At the second wedding, an olive shrub wreath was placed on the winner’s go.

According to record guides, the Historical Games were prohibited by Emperor Theodosius in 393AD because he just didn't think they were suitable for a Religious kingdom.

The Contemporary Olympic Games
How did they start?

More than 1500 decades later, a young Frenchman called Baron Pierre de Coubertin made the decision to create the current Olympic Games. He thought that the Olympic Games should be about providing together game, lifestyle and education and learning.

Athletes from 205 different nations are required to contend in 26 Olympic actions and 20 Paralympic actions at the 2012 Games!
The London, uk 2012 Games will bring most people together in the greatest party ever in the UK. The primary center for many the actions, such as the Starting and Ending Events and many of the actions, will be the Olympic Recreation area.


The Olympic Park
The Olympic Recreation area protects 500 miles in Eastern London, uk -that’s about the size of Alton Towers!


During the Games, it will only take seven minutes to get there from the center of London, uk by a special practice. The Olympic Recreation area will contain the primary Arena, Aquatics Centre, and lesser stadia like the Basketball Centre and the Velopark for Bicycling. The Sportsmen Small town, where the athletes will stay during the Games, will also be in the Recreation area.

The whole of the Recreation area will be designed to make sure that guests always feel part of the Games, whether they are viewing the game contests, strolling along the stream bank or near one of the big displays viewing actions.
